The frost has once again hit the air,
My memories instantly take me back there,
To the night when I nearly lost my life,
When I was comforted by a midwife.
The feelings come back as if out of nowhere,
When I cried out like an injured bear,
I could not stand on my own two feet,
While outside the land had begun to sleet.
The night was the darkest of the year,
As I rode towards the frontier,
Trying to stop the inevitable,
Not understanding that it was irreparable.
Since we have rotated twice around the sun,
Life has moved on for everyone,
But my mind has taken me back to that place,
When I last prayed to outer space.
